I grew up hearing but now my hearing is decreasing. My hearing started to go down when I was 13 years old, my hearing decreased over time. I was mainstreamed.
My identity is as a hearing- impaired person and as a Deaf person – I have both identities. I mix in the hearing world with friends and family and in the Deaf world with friends. I have more friends in the Deaf world compared with the hearing world. I am better with Deaf culture in the Deaf world. Its better for my identity.
